A most remarkable cure of rheumatism has come to light...

Daily Times

A most remarkable cure of rheumatism has come to light in this town, one which is unequaled perhaps in the history of non-remedy treatment, such as this appears to be. The subject in this case is Mrs. John Thomas, Jr., who with her husband has been visiting for several months at the residence of their son, Mr. John F. Thomas, the insurance man on Scott Street. Mrs. Thomas was almost a confirmed invalid when she came to Stroudsburg, was suffering intensely almost all the time, and unable to go about without crutches, indeed at times was bedfast.

A friend suggested that the Christian Scientists in this community would be glad to send a representative to visit with her, and after some time, more out of courtesy to a friend than anything else, a lady of this new faith was asked to call at the Thomas home. From that time on there were repeated visitations, and the Christian Scientist was closeted with her patient evening after evening, alone. They read the Bible together, and discussed many of the deeper things connected with their belief and theme. The tiny faith of the sick woman grew and grew, until finally she was able to move about, from chair to chair, with out crutches. At last she could go out on the porch, and now walks all around without the aid of the crutches, which have been entirely discarded.

The cure has been widely discussed among the friends of the lady, and of course in the Christian Science Society, numbering many strong believers, the cure is clearly understood and is readily believed to have been the direct result of faith and an answer to prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and their son and his wife are happy, nevertheless, that the good mother has been relieved, and will willingly give credit where credit is due.
