Up to the time I turned to Christian Science for help,...

Up to the time I turned to Christian Science for help, I had been for thirty years a sufferer from so-called stomach trouble and periodical headaches. I should be afraid to say how many physicians and prescriptions I had tried for help in that time. For four years before turning to Christian Science I had suffered from the veins in my left leg, so that I had to keep it bandaged and was in constant pain. The right leg was also becoming affected, and I had the depressing assurance from three physicians whom I consulted that it would soon be worse than the other. I was induced to turn to Christian Science for help because of the healing of my wife, and I was completely healed of all three troubles. The pain in my leg was overcome in the first treatment, and after six weeks' treatment I was free from the enlarged veins and from the stomach trouble. I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and about six months after beginning its study I went to a little meeting in the parlor of the lady who had been my practitioner, and I had, as it seemed, one of the worst headaches I had ever had. I had not up to this time risen above them. After the meeting was over I asked her for treatment, and much to my surprise, for she had always been so patient with and kind to me, she told me to help myself. I felt as if I had been thrown overboard into deep water; and asked her: "How?" She gave me some helpful thoughts, telling me to realize the allness of God. I went to my room on my return home and began to try to realize the allness of divine Love, as that was the way I liked to think of God. At first there seemed to be nothing but pain; but I persevered, and gradually there came into my consciousness a sense of Love, and the infinity of Love blotted out all else. I do not know how long I retained this consciousness, as for a while time was not, but when I came back to the ordinary sense of things there was no sense of headache and there has not been since, and that was ten years ago. Paul speaks of one who was "caught up to the third heaven." I have felt sometimes that I have had a similar experience. Since that time I have helped myself and many others, and the things which I have seen accomplished through this wonderful truth, if I should tell about them, would fill many books.

I wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the knowledge of Truth and Love that she has brought to us, which has made all this healing and regenerating work possible. Above all, I am thankful to the good God who has so wonderfully, as the time is ripe, opened the eyes of her understanding to make her a Mother-in-Israel and a Leader of men.—W. T. Kilgrove, San Francisco, Cal.
