Gratitude impels me to write a few words in acknowledgment of the many benefits which have come to me through our beloved Science. When Christian Science first came to my notice, about fourteen years ago, it did not seem to have any message for me; but after twelve years (during which time I was a constant sufferer and a patron of the doctors and druggists, receiving no permanent relief and little temporary help) I became critically ill. A dear friend, who is a Christian Scientist, came to see me one afternoon, and before she left she reminded me how my eyesight had been restored the year before, in one treatment, when I had lost the use of one eye and could only use the other with specially ground glasses. I then sent for a practitioner and began treatment. That was Tuesday, and Thursday I was well,—healed of every ill, and they were many. Among them was heart trouble, which had been pronounced incurable and had threatened to end my life any minute. I had been operated upon no benefit for one ailment, and for another I had undergone two serve operations, with no permanent relief. I was, however, made free by this wonderful truth. As I was afraid that these diseases might return, I remained under the practitioner's care for three weeks, but since then I can say with the psalmist, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil; for thou art with me." Even the fear of disease was utterly destroyed! That was in June, 1904, and since then I have been laboring in the Master's vineyard, humbly, meekly striving to show the love within my heart, and to keep the commandments.

For the beautiful, transparent life of our beloved Leader, my gratitude knows no bounds. I thank God for our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The Sentinel, Journal, and Quarterly are all dear friends, whose mission it is to help me understand the Scriptures, and the Bible is indeed "a lamp unto our feet" in the radiant light of Christian Science.
