Christian Science has brought so many blessings to our home that I consider it my duty to tell others of sow of the satisfying proofs we have had of Truth's power. We first heard of Science through the healing of a dear relative, who had been a helpless invalid for many years and whose doctor had recommended Christian Science treatment as he could give her no further help. This relative sent the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, to her mother, who lived three miles from us, and who in turn loaned the book to us. Then the Sentinel and Journal were sent us, and we greatly enjoyed reading them. I accidentally got a silver wedged under my thumb nail, which of course seemed very painful, but I declared the truth and the pain was soon relieved. Soon after this I burned my hand severely. I again declared the truth, and all the pain stopped. This was a grand proof to me of the power of Truth. I read Science and Health and was deeply interested. At that time our daughter, aged sixteen, was taken ill with a fever. I did not then know of a practitioner, but sat at my daughter's bedside and read the book. I always felt such courage as I studied it, and all fear would vanish. On what seemed the worst day she said, "Read to me out of that book, mother." I did so, and she fell asleep; a change for the better appeared, and she got well in a few days. Our youngest daughter was healed of measles in three days, through the application of this truth. My husband, through the reading of the text-book, left off the tobacco habit of forty-five years.

For eighteen years I had used spectacles, and even with glasses could not see distinctly. I had to use very strong glasses, and I went to an eye specialist for relief. The oculist examined my eyes and said that they were in a very serious condition. I felt discouraged, and it seemed as though blindness would be the end of it all. One day as I sat reading Science and Health, the daughter who had been healed of the fever said, "Mother, why don't you take off your glasses?" I did so; and by persistently declaring that in God was my sight I was enabled to realize the truth that makes free. I am grateful for this great blessing of sight that has been restored through the understanding of Truth. My husband, myself, and two of our children are members of The Mother Church. We find the study of the Lesson-Sermons, which we read right and morning, a wonderful help. They are truly our daily food. All our dear Leader's writings are studied, and they help us over all the rough places in the journey from sense to Soul. We are very grateful for all the great helps from the Sentinel, Journal, and lectures, as well as the good things given us by the Publication Committee.
