It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write of what Christian Science has done for me. I had been in poor health since I was fifteen years of age, and in the spring of 1904 I underwent an operation, which was followed by a complete nervous breakdown. My physician, an eminent doctor, said I must have a complete change at once. I gave up my office work and was taken to a health resort in southern Missouri, where I remained five weeks, returning home no better than before going. It was then decided that I must undergo a second operation before I could get relief. This was done in October, 1904. but I was worse than before it. My physician then said it would be several years before I would be myself again and that I never could resume my office work.
Christian Science found me in this condition in February, 1905, when an aunt induced me to try its treatment. I readily consented, as I had given everything else a trial. I was completely restored to health in six weeks, and did not require further treatment. During this period I received not only my physical healing, but my whole life was changed. I began to get glimpses of the wonderful truth which makes us free, and I grew content and happy. By the first of June, 1905, I was back in the office, doing my old work with ease and enjoying perfect health.
I am indeed thankful for Christian Science, and my desire is to live the gratitude I owe to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for my lasting sense of this new-old religion.
