I have been a student of the Christian Science text-book...
I have been a student of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, for nine years, during which time I have gone through what seemed to me many severe struggles. I say "to me," because I see now quite plainly that the struggles were entirely mental, in which self was in opposition to Spirit, God. Probably no one else could know that I was experiencing such tumult, as I was physically gaining daily in all that goes to make up a normal state of human life. This experience to my sense meant the adjustment of my thought to the divine demands of Truth, the cleansing of my consciousness of what was most conspicuosuly opposed to Truth. It is indeed pleasant and encouraging to look back to those periods of sweet hope and realization of the passing of the pangs of chronic indigestion, catarrh, insomnia, and nervous impotence, yet the greatest satisfaction thereof is as nothing compared with the results of the spiritual cleansing that has followed, even if the divine remedy had been many times more bitter than it seemed to be.
I shall never cease to be grateful to an all-wise God, and to His Revelator, to this age, for Science and Health, and for the continued manifestation of that wisdom in the organization and dignified but gentle operation of the Christian Science propaganda, which is fixing for all time and for all men the healing and saving power of Christ, Truth.
John Forbes, Omaha, Neb.
