I wish to acknowledge the great benefit Christian Science...
I wish to acknowledge the great benefit Christian Science has been to me, it was first offered to me through a friend who was reading the Journal. I became quite interested and took home with me some of the literature. After studying Science and Health, with many a prayer for divine guidance that I might not be doing a wrong by believing what seemed at that time almost too good to be true, the great stumbling-block in the old thought was removed. I had been taught that our afflictions were sent by a just and good God to but I could not reconcile two such opposite characteristics in a kind, loving Father, as I had always tried to believe God to be. I had only read Science and Health a very short time when I rejoiced in the understanding that God is not the author of evil and does not send afflictions upon His children. It was, and still is, a great delight for me to know and understand this great truth, —the truth that makes us free. I find great happiness in reading the Bible and Science and Health, also the Sentinel and Journal. The Bible has indeed become a new book to me. As I read it in this new light so many of the seeming contradictions are not contradictions any longer, and I am sincerely thankful that this great light has come into my life. I have had many demonstrations of the power of Truth. I think it right to make this public acknowledgment of what the great truths expressed in our dear Leader's book, Science and Health, have done for me.—Mrs. Kate McC. Smith, Bay City, Mich.
