The Truth about Christian Science

Waco Times-Herald

Houston, Tex., October 17, 1905.

To the Editor of Times-Herald.

In your issue of the 13th instant you comment on an editorial that appeared in the October number of the Texas State Journal of Medicine. I have not yet seen the editorial referred to, but, inasmuch as there is an impression given in your editorial that "little children of Christian Science parents suffer and die for want of proper attention," I desire to say that such is not the case. Christian Scientists do not force their views or their services upon any one; and they accord to members of their own family the freedom of choice that is allowed others. No one can love a child as devotedly as its parents; and it is self-evident that a parent has more solicitude for his child, when sick, than could be felt by a stranger, and in such experiences will choose the very best means in his judgment for its recovery. Who has a greater right than the parent of a child to determine what is best for the child?
