It is now two years since Christian Science came to our home to feed our hungry hearts and lead us gently into the understanding of Truth. It has also been a help to us since in ruling out error in the form of sickness.
After we had been in Science about nine months, my little daughter's hand was run over by a cart in which were children coasting down a hill. As the cart ran over her hand, she pulled it from under the wheel, and to all appearances, three fingers were dislocated and the pain was intense. A dear Christian Science friend was visiting me at the time, and she immediately denied the suggestion of dislocation. I telegraphed to our practitioner and did as much as my understanding of the truth allowed. With my friend's help, my fear and my little daughter's sense of pain disappeared. The night was spent very comfortably, and although the hand seemed useless the next day, I could notice, towards evening, that the swelling was disappearing. At the end of one week she could use her hand as well as ever, and did use it perfectly well in school. After the first few hours of treatment there was no suggestion of pain. We did not call a surgeon, for I knew that it is possible for God to do all things. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude, nor the joy which came with this demonstration. It was truly a realization of God as "a very present help in trouble."
Last winter a case of diphtheritic sore throat was met in a few hours. Much more help have we had, and we are constantly learning that it is ours. It is through these demonstrations that Life, Truth, and Love are revealed to us. Our lives are full of gratitude and love to our dear Leader for her unselfish help and constant watchfulness for our welfare.—Agnes H. Griffin, Ridgewood, N. J.
