The Dedication of the Concord Church

To-Day is the first anniversary of the laying of the corner-stone of the edifice presented to our Concord brethren by Mrs. Eddy; to-morrow will occur the dedication of this beautiful structure,—a splendid testimonial to the present efficacy of Jesus' gospel in behalf of humanity.

The simple services marking this event will be attended by thousands of Christian Scientists from all parts of the United States and other lands, and their hearts will rejoice with Mrs. Eddy in the fruition of her desire for a church building in her home city, in keeping with the dignity and high purpose of the Cause of which she is the Leader; but the thought of many will turn to the early days of her work, the trials that have beset her path, the self-denials through which they were overcome, the bitter opposition, the waiting, the watching, the patient and enduring heroism which have attended her every step in this great work, and they will thank God anew that they are of this generation, and that through Mrs. Eddy's labor in the Master's vineyard, they are seeing the fulfilment of Isaiah's prophecy, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord."

The growth of the Church in Concord has been along the same lines as in other cities; first, some one healed, then, "two or three gathered together" in Christ's name, then a gradual increase of their members through the healing of this one and that one, until finally a strong and vigorous church organization stands forth to proclaim the gospel of peace, righteousness, and health to all.
