Love's Fraternity

As an instance where Love is breaking down the barriers of conservatism, I wish to tell through the Sentinel of a memorable meeting held in the town of Braintree, Mass., on the Sunday before Memorial Day. The commander of the Grand Army Post arranged for a memorial service in the Town Hall. The audience was made up of the members of the Post and their friends, and several hundred of the townspeople. There was singing by the public school children, Scripture reading, prayer, and an address. On the platform sat the clergy of Braintree, representing all phases of the Protestant faith, the Catholic priest of the parish, and a representative of the branch Christian Science church. The Post commander was so desirous that the Scientists should not be overlooked, that he made a personal call upon them to extend the invitation. The example of Christian fellowship here shown recalls our Leader's words in the 1902 Message: "When the churches and I round the gospel of grace, in the circle of love, we shall meet again never to part."
