About four years ago at the midnight hour I was suddenly awakened out of my sleep to behold a mother weeping over her darling baby. To mortal sense the little one was passing away, she was as pale as a corpse. I knew something must be done, and done quickly.
Knowing something of Christian Science I began to reason thus: King Asa sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians: and Asa slept with his fathers. I also realized these words to be true: "Yea, though I walk though the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [Love] art with me." The battle which was waged between the power of Mind and material sense soon proved a complete victory on the side of Truth. In less than an hour our baby turned over in bed and patted me on the cheek.
I believe that Jesus' words are as true and demonstrable to-day as when spoken nineteen centuries ago. He said. "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." I wish to express gratitude to God and to our Leader for her pure thought, to my teacher for class instruction, and to all Christian Scientists who have helped me with their beautiful thoughts of Truth and Love.
