I desire to tell what God has done for me and mine...
I desire to tell what God has done for me and mine through this blessed truth which is redeeming mankind from the yoke of bondage. Nearly nine years ago I became very ill with what the physicians called nervous prostration. From July till October I was growing worse every day in spite of all that our best physicians could do.
At that time an eminent physician and surgeon was called, and an operation decided upon, which took place about the last of October. From that time until the first of the December following I lay unconscious, gradually growing weaker, until the doctors and all said it was a matter of only a few hours when I should pass on without regaining consciousness.
At that time a dear friend heard of my great danger and begged of my husband to try Christian Science, which he was very willing to do. for it was like a drowning man catching at a straw. We had never heard of Christian Science, but the practitioner came at once with this friend. who has since said that if she had then seen me she would never have had the courage to recommend treatment, for it seemed as if it were raising one from the dead. I heard the voice of Truth, however, and to-day I am glad to bear testimony to this fact, that God does love His children and has through our Leader made it manifest to us. I can never be grateful enough to God for this truth: only my life work for Him can testify to it, and I feel that, too, is the best way to show my gratitude to our beloved Leader who has "scaled the heights" before us and stands to-day beckoning us on, and guiding and cheering us with her teaching and example.
