Remembering the manifold blessings which I have received...

Remembering the manifold blessings which I have received through Mrs. Eddy's writings and our periodicals, I wish to express my gratitude for the same to God, who led me to Christian Science.

Over two years ago I heard the words Christian Science for the first time from a student, while I was on a journey in Switzerland. I was then very miserable physically, and was also mentally depressed, although I had employee physicians and used baths for years.

After this student had told me of her own healing, she advised me to buy the text-book, Science and Health. I sent for it and began my study. Although I have quite a good command of the English language, the book was hard to understand, yet an inward impulse made me continue my study. I soon decided to go to Berlin, which in my state of health seemed a great undertaking, but contrary to my expectations all went well.

I can never forget the feeling that came over me during and after the first treatment; it was such a feeling of peace and rest. The simple service and the beautiful hymns impressed me very much; my health improved, but very slowly, yet I regained my joy in life.

My difficulties gradually disappeared,—indigestion, susceptibility to cold, and nervousness. I learned to know that because we are created in the image and likeness of God and He is perfect, we, as His children, manifest perfection if we realize our birthright,—our dominion over the misguiding senses.

I have been successful in having small demonstrations: for instance, some time ago, I had an attack of sick headache which was overcome in a quarter of an hour through reading in Science and Health. Another time I experienced a clear proof of the ever-presence of God. In leaving the street car I rose before it stopped and fell full length in the car so that a gentleman had to help me up, but I instantly remembered that God's child cannot be harmed and went safely on. When I reached home, however, I felt a pain in my left shoulder as if it were sprained. I treated myself to the best of my understanding and later on asked for help which I received, and after two days all bad effects had disappeared. The third demonstration was a case of impersonal healing. My niece complained of a severe cold while I visited her. I denied it as we do in Christian Science. A week later she visited me and said, "My cold has disappeared in a remarkable manner, I believe I must thank you for it, because I have never been freed so quickly." I am not only helped physically, but I feel that I am being inwardly transformed.

We cannot be too grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed this precious truth and given it to us. Since June, 1903, I have had the blessing of becoming a member of the Mother Church, and at the same time I joined First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Berlin, Germany.

We have just received the February number of Der Christian Science Herold, and I wish to express sincere gratitude for myself and many other Germans, to the Publishing Society, for the German translation of our Bible Lessons contained therein. This will be an effectual help and a blessing for many.—E. W., Berlin, Germany.
