Christian Science came to me when I was a miserable...
Christian Science came to me when I was a miserable woman chained with muscular rheumatism, so-called, and with nothing to look forward to but an invalid's chair. I had tried almost everything for help, but found no relief. I was treated in Science and found my freedom in a very short time, and never have had any return of the trouble.
I had worn a truss for hernia constantly for twenty-five years when I was told I could be healed. That seemed too good to be true. Treatment was begun, but I did not remove the truss. One day I began to think how I was limiting God's power, and in the morning I thought I would try to go without the truss. I soon found, however, that I would be obliged to wear it. Later in the day I was treated and was asked if I was not ready to remove the truss. I said, "Yes, come what may, I will take it off." I did so at once, and from that moment to this, which is now fourteen years, I have never known anything more of the hernia.
Some weeks later I was going on a journey in which I would be on my feet a great deal and the tempter came and said, "You had better take that truss with you." I thought a moment, then got the truss, and put it in the stove. That brought the victory,—perfect freedom. I have been healed of many ailments since. I was wearing glasses when I began class instruction, but I was able to leave them off, and for the last two years I have not used them. I find I am able to study the Concordance, which at first seemed too fine print for me. That difficulty has been met, and I can study it, for which I am very grateful.
