It gives me great joy to tell of what Christian Science has done for me in the way of healing, but what it has done for me spiritually I have no words that would reveal, or make clear, for the deep things of God can only be realized, and not told in a way that they would be understood. Yet glimpses of heaven are granted us in this way of righteousness (right doing) which lift us above self, and lead us to think less of self and more and more of others, and of things higher and more pure than was ever found in the old way. I am more than grateful to Christian Science for what it has done and is still doing for me. I will now give a demonstration over the results of a fall.
I had a colored man in my cellar, whitewashing, also two women cleaning it. In due time I was told that the whitewashing was finished and I must come to see if it pleased me. One of the women had taken a pailful of boiling water, and going down three steps, she set it down and returned to the kitchen for something needed. I came down stairs just at that time, and went direct to the cellar stairs, and started down. Not knowing of the water, I stepped into the pail, which tipped it over, and pail, water, and all fell to the stone floor ten steps below, the hot water scalding me, as it seemed, all over. They all screamed, and came to me to help me up, but I waves them aside, for as I was going down I declared that Mind is master, and thus I was not confused in thought, but to sense, I did lie there with every bone in my body broken, and the suffering from the hot water seemed awful.
I did not speak, or attempt to get up, but realized the Truth of being to the best of my understanding, and later I got up on my feet, and walked about, examined the work done, and left the cellar without speaking a word aside from my approval of the work.
