Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of...
"Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. . . . The effects of this Science are to stir the human mind to a change of base, whereon it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind" (Science and Health, p. 162).
The truth of this statement was proved conclusively to me five years ago when I first turned to Christian Science for help. I had been under the doctor's treatment for about six years for Bright's disease and other chronic troubles, until the physician said he could do no more for me. He drew a picture of the kidneys on paper and showed me the exact stage the disease had reached and the condition of the organs at that stage according to materia medica. This picture and his verdict made a terrible impression upon me and haunted me continually.
In this desperate condition of thought I turned to Christian Science for help, not expecting to be healed, but thinking I might get a little insight into the future through the study of Christian Science, for when I was brought face to face with the grim monster, I felt that all my own thought and preparation for a future life were nothing but blackness and despair. I longed to know something about God and heaven, and how to read the Bible and gain a spiritual understanding therefrom.
