Railroad Rates and Arrangements for the Communion Season
THE New England Passenger Association; i.e., all rail and steamer lines within the New England States, has granted reduced rates on the following basis.
"Round trip tickets will be sold and good going June 27—July I, returning June 28—July 2, at the following rates:—
"Two cents per mile from points within twenty-five miles of Boston; one dollar from points from twentyfive to thirty-three miles of Boston; one and one half cents per mile from points more than thirty-three miles from Boston.
"Tickets will be put on sale only at points from which the lines interested are advised of probable attendance.
"From New York City, one fare for the round trip; tickets good going via all rail lines beginning on the eleven o'clock and midnight trains on June 26, and on all trains (excepting special limited all parlor car trains) June 27—30, returning June 28—July 2. Via Sound Lines tickets good going June 26—30, returning June 28—July 2."
From Trunk Line Association; i.e., territory West of New England but east of and including Toronto, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Dunkirk, Salamanca, Erie, Pittsburg, Bellaire, Wheeling, Parkersburg, and Charleston, W. Va., one fare plus $1.00 for the round trip; tickets to be sold and good going June 26—29, good returning June 28—July 2, but must be stamped and vised at Station Ticket Office prior to July 2.
By deposit of ticket with Joint Agent, Walker Building, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, corner Boylston and Clarendon Streets, Boston, not earlier than July I nor later than July 4, between the hours of 8 A.M. and 6 P.M., and payment of fee of fifty cents at time of deposit, an extension of return limit may be obtained leaving Boston not later than August 1, 1903.
From Central Passenger Association territory; i.e., west of Trunk Line Association territory as above and north of the Ohio River, east of Lake Michigan, and east of and including Chicago, Peoria, Quincy, Keokuk, Hannibal, and St. Louis, one first-class fare for the round trip, tickets to be sold and good going June 25—27, with return limit and extension privileges same as Trunk Line announced above.
Stop-over may be obtained at New York on return trip on tickets reading via New York, provided tickets have been validated in Boston and are deposited with Joint Agent at 13 West 24th Street, New York City; immediately on arrival, and payment of fee of $1.00; but in no case will the stop-over at New York extend beyond August 1. Joint Agency open between 8 A.M. and 6 P.M. daily from June 29 to August 1.
Lines south of Trunk Line Association territory and west of Central Passenger Association have not as yet announced their arrangements but it is confidently expected that they will concur in above arrangements as will in lines from Canada and the British Provinces.
The Plant Line announces that it will make half rates from Halifax, Hawkesburg, or Charlottetown, good going to Boston any time during June and returning to and including July 4th sailing.
The Intercolonial Railway of Canada will make reduced rates from points on its line to Halifax, St. John, and Boston.
The Field are advised to consult their local ticket and passenger agents for full information, and it is suggested that purchasers read the contract on the ticket and have the selling agent explain any provisions not fully understood.
