I wish to give this testimony, hoping that it may help...
I wish to give this testimony, hoping that it may help to lead others, as I was led, through the reading of some testimonies, to seek the truth of Christian Science. Only those who have been "born again of the Spirit" can appreciate what I mean when I say, Thank God for the great peace that comes with the understanding of God as all.
I have been a student of Christian Science less than one year, and yet it would take pages to tell of all that I have overcome in that time. I have studied alone, as there are no other Christian Scientists here, but I have been faithful in my effort to follow the teachings of our Leader. The Quarterly has been a great help.
For ten years I suffered with an abscess or, as some doctors called it, an internal abscessoral tumor. I had the best medical assistance, but the physicians told me after I had gone through two unsuccessful operations that they could do no more for me, and that I could never endure being chloroformed again; that the only thing was to try change of climate in the hope that my general health would improve. At that time I lived in Iowa and from that state I went to Utah. While there I was in better health. I stayed with my aunt who was a Christian Scientist, and it was perhaps her treatment which helped me, but I got altogether a wrong impression of Christian Science, I suppose, because I did not take up the study of it myself, but looked to her to do all the work of correcting my wrong ideas.
