My sister, in a distant city, wrote me that she had for some time suffered from lameness and stiffness of the joints, accompanied by great weakness, which made it difficult for her to rise from a chair, go up and down stairs, and in many other ways caused great inconvenience.

She had been reading Science and Health, and other Christian Science literature which I had sent her, and was much interested.

One day, while writing to my sister, I felt most strongly the needlessness and nothingness of the lameness and weakness, with which she was afflicted, and expressed it in my letter. At the same time I had the realization that in Truth all things good were possible. I knew a child of God should not be bearing this burden, when divine Love could and would make her "every whit whole."
