The Lectures

A lecture was given at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago, Tuesday evening, June 10, by Mrs. Annie M. Knott, C.S.D., and was listened to with unusual attention and interest by about one thousand persons. The many expressions of satisfaction heard at the close of the lecture indicated that much good had been accomplished. Mrs. Knott was introduced by Mr. Charles M. Flint, First Reader of Fourth Church, with the following remarks:—

In is indeed a pleasure in behalf of Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, of Chicago, to welcome you to this our third lecture on the subject of Christian Science.

Christian Scientists are rejoicing in the fact that our fair-minded Christian brethren are no longer looking upon us as a peculiar people, but are recognizing that we earnestly endeavor to live in obedience to the teachings of the Master. It is true, we claim and maintain that through spiritual discernment of the teachings of Jesus, we are being freed from sin, sickness, and sorrow. For this we are deeply grateful, and knowing that this same blessing awaits all mankind, it is but natural that we should wish to make known to them the ways and means of attaining this understanding. For this purpose a Board of Lectureship has been established. We have with us to-night one of the pioneer workers in this Cause, one who has for many years proven daily her words by her works, and is therefore in a position to speak with due authority. It gives me very great pleasure to introduce to you Mrs. Annie M. Knott, C.S.D., of Detroit, Mich., a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship of the Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Boston, Mass.
