When I first heard of Christian Science, I was in a small town in the northern part of Missouri. I had been an invalid for three years, and during six months of that time I never stood on my feet. The light was so painful to my eyes that I had to wear smoked glasses. I had tried all kinds of physicians, but none of them said I could be healed. They all said I could be benefited, but I would never be strong and would always have to be very careful. I was unable to walk more than a few yards when I took my first treatment in Christian Science. This was about two o'clock in the afternoon. After this treatment, I took off my glasses, walked up stairs, went to sleep, and slept until five o'clock. The next day I walked three blocks. In twelve treatments I was perfectly healed. I am on my feet the greater part of the day; run up and down stairs, and suffer no inconvenience from it.
This was about thirteen years ago. At that time I seemed to get only the physical benefit, I knew very little of the spiritual uplifting which now means far more to me than the physical healing. I studied Science and Health and was able to overcome my own troubles and sometimes those of others.
I am very grateful to our dear Leader for giving to the world this wonderful Truth.
