But One Christian Science

Ida Grove (Iowa) Era

To the Editor.

Dear Sir:—I have read with great interest the article by the Rev. George M. Cummings in your issue of September 18, under the caption, "Answers Judge Ewing," and was much impressed with the genuine tribute which he paid to the high standard of Christianity of Judge Ewing and certain Christian Scientists in your city, for whom, as he stated, he has "the most profound respect."

The gentleman's recognition of the good points in the lives of these adherents of the Christian Science faith is refreshing, and to some extent robs the balance of his article of its sting; for if, as he states, "Christianity is to be judged by its fruits," it is a self-evident fact that a religion that can produce "a beautiful Christian spirit" must have some substantial basis for its claims to Christianity.
