A short time ago, as I sat by the bedside of a dear...
A short time ago, as I sat by the bedside of a dear sufferer trying to realize the Master's "Peace, be still," I recalled my own experience and know how real is the fear and how strong the belief. Deep gratitude came to me as I realized what a long distance I had come guided by the blessed light of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. It has raised me from a sense of fear and distance from God to a consciousness of the all-presence of God as Love; from a sense of invalidism and dependence to one of health and usefulness. In the years of weakness and suffering that followed my mother's death, I prayed for light, searched far and wide, but found no relief. The bodily suffering was great, but the yearning and longing for the Christ-Truth was greater. When all hope had fled and I turned wholly to God, a dear Christian Scientist friend called, telling me that the Christ-Truth had never gone. I began the study of Science and Health; there were struggles with fear and prejudice, but surely the light came. The Christ-Truth that I longed for as a child has come. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.
My heart goes out in deep gratitude to our Leader for our text-book, Science and Health, and to the dear sister in Truth who has so patiently and lovingly led me.
