Wise Guidance
THE farther one advances on the straight and narrow way which leads from the illusions of material sense to Spirit's immortal consciousness,— the Mind which is Life eternal, —the more utterly inadequate do words become to express one's gratitude for the discoveries and realizations by the way, and for the infinite glory of the prospect which grows on the awakened vision All attempts at human expression thereof seem futile, and communication of experiences ceases to be verbal, when reflected from consciousness to consciousness. Truly "eye hath not seen, nor ear heard" what the devoted disciple of the Science of Christ knows, realizes. Such alone can learn how the doctrine is of God. But to render tribute to whom tribute is due, to Caesar the things of Caesar, let me add my mite to the grateful offerings of my fellow Scientists in hearty appreciation of the faithful and successful labors of all engaged in the preparation of that invaluable mental nourishment which is feeding all who receive the Quarterly the Journal and the Sentinel. My thanks seem a lame expression; but they are accompanied with a God speed from my inmost heart.
May I add that though myself deprived of church associations, there being no opportunity here (Naples, Italy), feel no less intense a desire for the best interests of every fellow Scientist and the healthy establishment of our Cause. To this end. I hailed with delight the new provision for periodical change of Readers as I did years since, the substitution of Readers for pastors. I can but feel that the domination of ecclesiasticism has ever hindered too often darkened, the way of true religion which community of interest, action. and responsibility can alone fully illumine. Glorious as is the Light now dawning, Christian Scientists, as well as those of other denominations, have all the temptations of material sense to meet and overcome; and "Watch" is the true and necessary password for each and every individual traveler on the Scientific way of Truth and Life. Let all that is within us bless the holy name of Him who guides and enlightens our dear Leader in Israel.
