Identity
"IDENTITY is the reflection of Spirit" (Science and Health, p. 477). But what is it that reflects? When I experience a desire to turn from evil, to turn towards Good in any degree or in any direction, that desire is certainly a reflection of Spirit, God; but what is the "I" which experiences?
There is no such existence. This very sense or supposition of an "I," to experience a desire, is the false sense of personality, the cloud which seems to hide the real identity.
The conscious desire to be or do good, is the true and only consciousness, individuality, or identity. This consciousness being from and of God, is at one with Him, and the individual identity is found to be a reflection of Spirit, not something which effects that reflection.
A deeper and deeper realization of this truth dispels more and more, the "old man" of material personality, and as these advances in consciousness are made, the products of false sense are destroyed, the ills of the flesh disappearing, as true being in Spirit is realized.
