Our Abiding Comfort
David said in the ninety-fourth Psalm, "In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul."
What a volume the Psalmist speaks in these few words! It is almost the summing up of his life's history. What a multitude of anxious thoughts must have surged in upon him as he beheld the waywardness of his beautiful son! What sorrowful thoughts, as he saw the results of his own dreadful mistakes! What tumultuos thoughts, living in the midst of a warlike people!
From the sacred annals we read that the sword never departed from his house. Yet, in the midst of all this tumult and adversity, he could say, "Thy comforts delight my soul."
