The Truth Established

It was my privilege to attend the World's Congress Auxiliary, which was held in Chicago in connection with the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893; also to be present at the meeting of the Parliament of Religions, when the address written by our Leader marked an epoch in the world's history.

On the platform, and in the great auditorium, were seated thousands of persons, representing different nationalities, doctrines, and creeds, all more or less based on the belief of life and intelligence as existent in matter. While listening to the inspired words of our Leader, which set forth so clearly the true idea of God and man, this verse from Scripture came to my thought with force and significance, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."

As the reading proceeded, and the infinite idea of infinite Mind was unfolded, I saw how perfectly Christian Science coincides with the Scriptures. The testimony of the personal senses, of "minds many" gradually yielded to the spiritual sense of one Mind, and that Mind's perfect idea,—Christ, the Son of the living God, stood revealed in a clearer light than ever before. The power of the word of Truth had indeed transfigured thought, proving Mrs. Eddy's words to be true: "Mine is the spiritual idea, which transfigures thought" (No and Yes, p. 35).
