Only Right Thinking

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." We have from the human standpoint admitted the wisdom of Hamlet's words : we have learned to expect that the tenor of man's thought will manifest itself in his work. Christian Science teaches that man, the reflection of God, is what he thinks; and as he thinks in God, manhood is manifested, harmony demonstrated. Man thinks health, his step grows more elastic, lris breathing deeper, his eye brighter, the body responds to health-thinking just as certainly as the figure wrought in color or stone responds to the thought of the painter or sculptor. The artist could never produce his effect, should he, even at intervals, lose sight of his ideal, work he never so assiduously.

"Keep your eye on your model, don't watch your hand," said the master as he passed up and down the corridor criticising the work of his students. It was wise teaching, indeed, and most practical; the counsel goes with us, growing with our growth and expanding with our experience.

"Keep your eye on your model !" We stop to consider our life-model. Man, our model, is not some vague conception that thinks, he is the thinking itself, the active reflection of Life, Love, Intelligence.
