The Lectures
A large crowd gathered at the Opera House yesterday afternoon (Sunday, November 17) to hear Judge Ewing discourse on the tenets of Christian Science. The address was of an academic order, treating the subject from a didactic standpoint and dwelling at length upon the dominant keynote of all religious progression.
Judge Ewing is a speaker of the old school of orators. His theme is his all and other considerations are lost in the intense advocacy of the thesis. His presence is easy, his elocution natural, and enunciation clear. No time is wasted on immaterial technicalities, but he reaches forth after the prejudices he wishes to combat with a frankness and perfect familiarity that win the good will of disinterested hearers.
