The Christian Science Lectures
In view of the increased prosperity which has come to communities where the lectures provided for by the By-laws in our Church Manual have been made available, it seems advisable again to call attention to the great importance of this branch of Christian Science work. The Board of Lectureship was established by our Leader as an additional means of presenting the truths of Christian Science to the public, to assist in disabusing the public mind of the false impressions induced by those who look upon Christian Science in a mistaken or unfriendly light, to emphasize the blessings it brings to humanity, and to show how the Discoverer and Founder, Mrs. Eddy, has faithfully labored to bring these blessings to her students.
The lectures are not controversial, but are effective in reaching many people who have not access to our publications, and are not reached by other methods.
In this connection we quote from an editorial in the Sentinel of March 2, 1899, Vol. I., No. 27, page 5, the following:—
