Communion Service at Concord, N. H.

Concord Evening Monitor

The semi-annual Communion service of First Church of Christ, Scientist, held yesterday at Christian Science Hall, was a noteworthy occasion, as it brought out the largest attendance that has ever gathered here for a Christian Science service, for the first time making it necessary to hold two services to accommodate the communicants. The latter service was held at 7.30 p.m., and was a repetition of the morning service. Fully five hundred people were present, three hundred in the morning and two hundred in the evening.

There were visitors from the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and also from Canada and Norway. These visitors were among those who attended the annual Communion service at the Mother Church in Boston last Sunday, and who remained over to visit Pleasant View and attend the service here.

Nine new members were admitted to the church, making the present membership 122. The church was organized February 22, 1899, with 74 members, and this increase of sixty per cent is an evidence of the strong growth of the denomination in this city.
