Sight Restored through Christian Science

I always derive so much good from the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel, that I consider it is my duty, as well as my privilege, to testify to my healing through the understanding of the all-powerful and ever-present God, which comes to us through Christian Science.

At the close of the year 1897, I was suffering from a severe attack of a disease that had troubled me, more or less, for six years and for which I had doctored a good deal, but only found temporary relief. On the last day of the old year, our little girl was taken with a severe fever. I was giving her the usual remedy, which on such occasions had always helped her. Talking with a neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, had caused me to lose faith in medicine. The medicine failed to help her and she gradually grew worse. I realized something must be done. I was alone at home, my husband had gone to work in the morning, so I dragged myself out of bed, and managed to take the child out on the porch, thinking that perhaps the fresh air would do us good. Just then our neighbor came over to call, and it was not long before she promised to help the baby. I got up and carried the child into the house, and then and there realized that I was perfectly well. I was instantaneously healed of my trouble of six years standing. Where a few minutes before I was all aches and pains from head to foot and felt very weak, now in a moment all had changed; I felt strong and ready to do the hardest work, a fact which I at once proved, for I set to work and did one of the hardest day's work that I had done for a long time. When my husband came home at evening, he stood still in the door, and exclaimed, "Why, what has come to you? you look ten years younger!"

Our little one went to sleep and slept till morning, when all the discord had disappeared.
