Truth Destroys all Forms of Error
One day I went to the barn and found my horse in a bad condition, to mortal sense. She was pawing and frothing at the mouth and held her head close to the ground. I saw that she had not eaten her morning feed and that something must be done at once. The thought came to me to treat her. I tried to help her while looking at her, but could do nothing. I turned my back to her and had only treated her about ten minutes when I heard her eating her feed and knew the work was done. I felt so happy over my first demonstration with my horse that I shed tears of joy and thanked God (Good) for the ever-present remedy.
Another time I had her turned out to graze, and when I went after her I discovered that one eye was swollen shut and the water was running out of it. My wife was close by and I called her. She saw the condition of things at a glance and said, "Put her in the barn and she will be all right." I did so and my wife went into the house to treat her. I saw the mare no more until morning, and then I could not have told which eye had been hurt if it had not been for the streak down her nose made by the water.
One day last summer she was fed about a bushel of watermelon rinds, of which she is very fond. The next morning I hitched her up as usual and before I got to the central part of the city she was taken sick. I met an old livery man who was a friend, and he urged me to unhitch and put the horse in his barn, saying there was great danger of losing her. He told me if I did not I would be sorry, that he had handled horses for forty years and he had lost them when they were not so bad as she was. But I got away from him as soon as I could and began to treat her. When I went home at noon I went past my friend's barn and she was all right. I also find that since I have been studying Science my horse does not tire so easily, or become leg-weary when I make long drives; I can and do help her.
