While I was in music school a few years ago, working toward a master's degree, I had a healing that was inspiring evidence of God's goodness and protection. When other challenges loom large, I recall this healing, and it reminds me of my deep gratitude to God for Christian Science and for its immediate availability to help and heal.

I had flown to New York City to perform at two auditions on succeeding days and was staying with a friend who was also a singer. After the first audition, she and I went out with some others for lunch, but I soon realized I had no appetite and was not feeling well. I silently turned to God, remembering my prayerful preparation for the audition early that morning; I clung to the spiritual fact that I was His perfect child and therefore could not suffer.

It was a lovely, sunny winter day, so we took a long walk through the city, eventually making our way to an opera rehearsal in which my friend had a lead role. As I sat watching the rehearsal, it seemed there was something seriously wrong with me: my temperature flew up and down, I felt very weak, and the tiny print of my purse-sized copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy wouldn't stay still enough for me to read.
