Reveille
All those tomorrows
waiting to be lived,
tied up in the pocket of time,
stare me in the face.
Why don't I stop cogitating
about those little knotty things—
"Hurry, don't be late!"
"I must!" "I can't"?
They irritate.
And they stop only when I listen
and hear God saying:
"I've put in their place
the undated now of Soul,
outwitting time with its limits
and foibles. Arise and do
what needs to be done.
Find yourself ... free!
Rejoice and be
who you really are—
the loved of Soul."
