Wake up from the mortal dream

When the troubles of life seem like a nightmare, it helps to remember that Christ, Truth, stirs us to wake up to healing.

Early one morning, just before waking, I was dreaming that I was picking up some pieces of glass from the ground so that others would not get hurt on them. I was acutely aware of their sharp and dangerous edges.

Then an unusual thing happened. I became aware that I was slowly waking up. I hurried to think of a place (in dreamland) where I could put the pieces of glass so that I would not have them in my hand in bed when I woke up. I mentally scanned a few places quickly, but there were no immediately satisfactory answers, and in a moment, I woke up.

The glass was gone! (Of course, since it had never been there in the first place.) But in the dream that fact did not seem as obvious as the apparent danger at hand. Only through my waking up did the dream nature of both the glass and the danger it seemed to present become apparent.
