Science and Health: Its Meaning Today
There's something right here today that can actually revolutionize the world! Something that can batter down the locked doors of prejudice and hate. Something that can bring a practical answer to millions of people facing hunger and deprivation. And something that's so close and intimate that it can bring a gentle sense of healing and satisfaction to each of us as individuals. That something is the vital, palpitating presence of the Comforter.
For centuries people have been waiting for Christ Jesus to return to earth. To them the most momentous, indescribable experience would be to actually witness Jesus' return. To see him heal the sick and stamp out materialism. To see him set up a spiritual kingdom that would subdue matter. Before his betrayal and crucifixion, Jesus promised that there would be a second appearing. He prophesied that another Comforter would come and abide forever. See John 14:16;
Over a hundred years ago the divine Principle of healing was revealed and explained in the Christian Science textbook. Its author, Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, spent over four decades proving that Principle in action. She speaks of the Science explained in the textbook this way: "It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance,—the Comforter which leadeth into all truth." Science and Health, p. 127;
