I am grateful to my parents for having taken up the study of Christian Science when I was five years old. We lived many miles from a Church of Christ, Scientist, so I never had the joy of attending Sunday School. Through my mother's reading aloud to my dad and me from the Christian Science periodicals, the seed was sown. All through my school years I turned to God with any need.

I did not marry a Christian Scientist but have always been grateful that my husband was in accord with the teaching, and wanted the children to attend Christian Science Sunday School.

When my daughter was born, the birth was a difficult one, and there was fear for both our lives. The birth took place at home. Two doctors were present. I was later told that the baby was placed in the next room while care was given me and ten minutes later she began to cry. The doctor in charge of my case told me that her foot was not filled out, and it should be bound right away. The child also had an injury to one arm. I thanked the doctor and said I did not want anything more done. He understood we were Christian Scientists, so he left.
