I am greatly indebted to Christian Science for the good it has brought into my life. Through it I have gained freedom from ignorance, in the sense of ignorance as taking no notice of God.

Most of my life has been spent in the academic world. As a student, I was completely immersed in the material aspects of the physical sciences. As a teacher, I was absorbed, to the complete exclusion of spiritual thinking, in my work and other interests. I had an assortment of problems: physical, dispositional, emotional —an absence of peace of mind.

When I began the study of Christian Science as a result of a physical healing in this Science, I was a spiritual illiterate. I began to gain and accept a concept of the nature of God through the study of the seven synonyms, as they are developed in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and in the study of Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. As I made them a part of my thought, my life became increasingly harmonious, my temperament became stabilized, and physical healings occurred. An associate remarked she had never seen such a radical change in anyone.
