"Because... therefore..."

So much of what we do and experience is dependent on the way we reason that few faculties of the human mind can be more important to grasp and develop than the ability to think things through clearly and intelligently from a sound basis. All day long we are observing and reasoning, then acting upon our conclusions. "Because... therefore..." —the process goes on often without conscious effort, from the first moment of awakening.

But what if our reasoning is based on a wrong assumption? The conclusion will also be wrong, and since what we hold in thought tends to determine the events of our human lives, it is important to be sure of the Rightness of the premise of our reasoning.

Several times in her writings Mrs. Eddy discusses the importance and correct method of reasoning from cause to effect according to the rules of Christian Science. She emphasizes the necessity always to begin with God, or Mind, never with the evidence of the material senses. She says in Science and Health, "The starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." And she continues, "To grasp the reality and order of being in its Science, you must begin by reckoning God as the divine Principle of all that really is." Science and Health, p. 275;
