Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the textbook of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy, came into my life like a burst of light! I was a schoolgirl then, spending the summer on a farm with friends where I had been sent hoping my stay there would be a buildup of my health and strength.

As a youngster I loved to attend the Christian Science Sunday School.
In 1915 while attending normal school in California preparing to be a teacher, I was examined by the school doctor and he told me that I had tuberculosis.
