I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills (Ps. 121:1)

The German scholar Hermann Gunkel described this psalm as an antiphonal hymn of pilgrimage, probably a dialogue between a band of Jewish pilgrims and their leader while on the long journey to the temple at Jerusalem to celebrate a festival.

He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep (Ps. 121:4)
