I am deeply grateful for Christian Science

I am deeply grateful for Christian Science. By relying on the truths of God's spiritual creation it teaches, I was able to overcome fear and anxiety when our children were small, and they were always quickly healed when they had symptoms of what are popularly called children's diseases.

On one occasion one of our boys had ugly sores on his face and body. I was very alarmed when a friend who was not interested in Christian Science told me she thought the child had impetigo. As soon as she left, I spoke to a Christian Science practitioner to ask her to help me see the unreality of this. Her loving words made all fear disappear. However, my husband and I felt that the sores should be washed, and covered with gauze and tape, so that evening we carefully attended to each and every sore on the boy's body.

The next day there was no improvement. Then, that evening when we were washing and putting new bandages on the sores, we got an unexpected telephone call from the practitioner. She wanted to know if we were watching the sores to see if they were improving or getting worse, and reminded us that in the textbook Mrs. Eddy says, "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality" (Science and Health, p. 261). We realized our mistake. That night I put the boy to bed really looking "away from the body" and when he woke up next morning, the sores had vanished. There were no scars, no redness of the skin even—not a sign.
