RING AND ROBE

The ring and the robe
Are for all who are journeying homeward,
Much valued sons of God
In the joy and the light of returning.
Shoes for repentant feet,
Fatted calves for the feasting;
The swine and the husks recede;
Stilled is the yearning.

Love in the Father's eyes.
(O brother, brother, love in your eyes also?)
Those who were lost are found;
Those who were dead, live;
Those who were gone are returned
(Lessons learned, nothing left to forget, forgive).

Let music explode in the land!
Let everyone dance and sing!
For those—the redeemed—the robe;
For each loved son, the ring.
