Vital Living
Jesus, once on a journey through Samaria, came to a spring. He sat down by the well and asked a woman to give him a drink.
Then followed one of those conversations which are memorable. The woman didn't see very far beyond the surface subject to begin with. But Jesus was thinking in depth. He said: "Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14;
Jesus, looking far beyond the water in the well, wasn't speaking only to the woman. His thought and his words outreached time and space. They are as vital to you and me today as they were to that nameless woman of Samaria. They sprang spontaneously from the source of his being, and this he knew to be divine Life itself.
