For many years I have enjoyed reading the testimonies in the Christian Science publications and have received great inspiration from their healing messages. And now my own testifying to the healing power of Christian Science in my life is long since due.

The first healing I had was at an early age. I remember my mother holding me on her lap and repeating "the scientific statement of being" with much thought behind it. The opening sentences are (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." My mother knew its wonderful message, and I was aware that we were turning to God for a healing of hives. This uncomfortable condition had returned for several years each spring, but this time it was healed through prayer, and I was never troubled again.

Protection from so-called children's diseases was so complete that I was never touched by any of them, although they were often in evidence in the schools I attended. Due to our adherence to the truths of Christian Science I attended school consecutively for twelve years without ever being absent or tardy.
