It Is God That Heals

The Psalmist speaks of the Lord "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." Ps. 103:3; No reservation here! No indication that healing was of men or of medicine! Nor does it point to healing as being limited to a particular place or era.

Note this clear indication of spiritual healing set forth in the Lord's promise to Moses: "If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee." Ex. 15:26; In this passage a clear condition precedent to healing is set forth. When our thoughts and conduct are in accord with God's perfect nature, we are immune to disease. Even though we fall short of obedience to the divine law, we may still gain freedom by returning to and obeying God's law.

It isn't an age or a place or a person that gives rise to healing. It is moral and spiritual power that when utilized makes healing possible. Those who performed mighty works in both Old and New Testament times did so through the power and grace of God. Their thoughts were highly spiritualized. They denounced evil under every guise, but in addition they understood and utilized the ever-present, curative power of God.
