Watching for God-given Opportunities

Analyze a happy and progressive day and you are likely to find that it was a day of opportunities recognized, grasped, and improved. Examine the events in what seems to have been a drab, unproductive day and you may well suspect that it was one of opportunities altogether missed, unnoticed until too late for action to be fully effective, or willfully wasted. Watch with more spiritual insight and you should come to the conclusion that, in fact, every hour of every day is fertile with possibilities because God makes it so.

Everyone should be conscious of constantly present opportunity for experiencing and doing good, for understanding truth and demonstrating dominion. Among the spiritual messages recorded in the book of Revelation is this to the church in Philadelphia: "Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it." Rev. 3:8; In truth, there is "an open door" before every child of God—a door of opportunity that nothing and nobody can shut. The immutable law of divine Principle ensures this, and we should expect to prove it.

The opportunities for development that God gives His idea, man, are not sporadic but steady and spontaneous. They don't appear and disappear by chance but are governed by divine law. They don't have to be manufactured or contrived. They are not given to some more than others. They are forever appearing in consciousness, impartially promising growth and progress to all through orderly spiritual unfoldment.
