In 1932, my mother was introduced to Christian Science by a woman who brought her a copy of The Christian Science Monitor once a week for a year. Mother read the religious article one day. By the time the woman returned Mother had all kinds of questions to ask about Christian Science, and she attended her first Wednesday evening testimony meeting the following week.
Two years later I was born, and had large birthmarks across my face. A Christian Science practitioner treated me through prayer, and after a few months these marks faded away completely.
When I was four years old, I had what a physician diagnosed as acute appendicitis. My mother chose to rely on Christian Science. After she called a practitioner, I was in no more pain, and that was the end of the problem.
